Age Restrictions
This website is not intended for children under 13 years of age.
Email Collection and Marketing
Email addresses are collected through subscription forms powered by MailerLite and Substack. When you subscribe:
- Your email may be added to the MailerLite and/or Substack mailing lists
- I may transfer subscribers between these platforms
- You can unsubscribe from either service at any time using the unsubscribe links in emails
- I use your email to send newsletters, marketing content, and course information
- MailerLite privacy policy: https://www.mailerlite.com/privacy-policy
- Substack privacy policy: https://substack.com/privacy
Contact Forms
When you submit the contact form (powered by WP Forms Lite), your information is sent directly to me and may be stored in the WordPress database. I use this information solely to respond to your inquiry.
Analytics and Tracking
I use several analytics tools to understand website performance:
- Google Analytics: Tracks visitor behavior and website usage
- Bing Webmaster Tools: Provides search performance data
- UberSuggest: SEO and keyword analysis
These services may collect cookies and usage data. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by visiting: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Third-Party Services and Plugins
This website uses several third-party services:
- CleanTalk: Anti-spam and security protection that may process form submissions and visitor data
- Avada Theme: Website theme that may use cookies for functionality
- AIOSEO: SEO optimization plugin that may collect usage data
- 301 Redirects Pro: Manages website redirects and may log redirect data
External Courses and Services
I offer digital products through Branch Out Authors (branchoutauthors.com), which operates under separate privacy policies available on that website.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, information is collected in the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will be set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Additional cookies may be set by analytics tools, security plugins, and other third-party services mentioned above.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Data Sharing
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Your personal information is not sold or shared with third parties except as necessary to provide services (such as email delivery through MailerLite and Substack).
Data Retention
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows follow-up comments to be recognized and approved automatically instead of being held in a moderation queue.
For users that register on this website (if any), the personal information they provide in their user profile is also stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe from the mailing lists. Contact form submissions are retained as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that any personal data held about you be erased. This does not include any data that must be kept for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
For email subscribers, you can unsubscribe at any time using the links provided in emails or by contacting me directly.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Email addresses are processed by MailerLite and Substack for newsletter delivery. Analytics data is processed by Google Analytics, Bing, and UberSuggest.
